It seems that newbie business owners commit a series of mistakes in bringing their businesses to the Internet/Web. It's the truth.
The second mistake they do is putting a lot of their time and money in attaining high rankings on search engines and directories.
Search engines and directories can give you free visitors continuously for a very long time, if you rank high or can be found in the first page of their search results.
But here are the realities that work against newbie business owners:
- There are already 8 billion pages indexed by Google alone, not to mention other search engines and directories. These are your direct and indirect competition for the higher ranking. What are the chances?
- You don't know the process of keyword research, selection, and monitoring.
- You don't know the technical side of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It is simply making it easy for search engine robots to index your webpages. However, it involved a deep grasp of SEO - the secrets, tips, and tricks.
- You don't know Search Engine Marketing (SEM). You have to know the respective requirements and criteria (algorithm) that search engines use, including "pleasing" the human editors of directories.
- If you are updated in SEM, you will find out that SEO is fast dying. The meta-tags are already ignored by major search engine robots.
Therefore, your keywords can be best used in pay-per-click promotions, Google Adwords, and your content development plan.
But you're not doing them because there's no more money left, already spent in creating a beautiful website.
- You are not sure that you will be in the top ranking after 4-6 weeks that major search engines take to index your site and make you appear in their search results.
Anyway, nobody knows the criteria (algorithm) except those people who have already experienced being there at the top.
For the newbie business owners, they still have to implement measures to climb the ranking and unfortunately, they don't know how.
But you can say that newbie business owners can always hire competent consultants who will do the job for them.
Most often, these consultants, especially SEO specialists, will push their services instead of the right promotions I will be enumerating in this ebook.
I have already mentioned above Pay-Per-Click (PPC), Google Adwords, and add other pay-per-performance programs of search engines.
As a result, newbie business owners get at least 70% of their site visitors from search engines and only 30% from other promotions.
However, the 70-30 figure must be rightly interpreted.
Because of the things I enumerated above that work against a newbie, the 70% is really a very few visitors we're talking about.
