12th Philippine International Franchise Conference and Expo
Citing the local franchise industry’s vital role in the country’s economic development, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has challenged industry leaders to sustain franchising’s phenomenal growth and produce more concepts that can compete in the global market.
This, President Arroyo said, is the challenge facing leaders and members of the Philippine Franchising Association (PFA) as they stage Franchise 2004 12th Philippine International Franchise Conference and Expo (PIFCE) at the Westin Philippine Plaza and World Trade Center on July 15-18.
The President described the annual PIFCE as "an effective tool in promoting the growth of franchising in the country as well as the springboard for the export of Filipino concepts internationally."
"The challenge is in sustaining this growth and making more concepts compete globally," the President said.
PFA, which is the premiere and only internationally recognized franchise organization in the country, promotes franchising as a tool for national development and assists small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the potential to franchise through its annual Franchise Expo and year-round activities.
Last year, the Philippine franchising industry posted an income of P28 billion, representing 15% of the total retail sales of P195 billion in 2003, and providing jobs to 500,000 people.
From only 50 franchises in the 1990s, there are now over 700 international and homegrown franchises in the Philippines with over 100,000 franchise outlets operating all over the country.
Trade Secretary Cesar Purisima threw his full support behind Franchise 2004, saying the franchising industry is a very attractive 90% success rate in franchising compared to the 25 percent in non-franchise business.
The Franchise Expo will showcase the best franchises in and outside the country back-to-back with a conference that will have international and local franchise gurus as speakers.
In the exhibit hall at the World Trade Center on July 16-18, visitors will find well-known brand names such as Max’s, Reyes Haircutters, Chowking , Greenwich, Kamiseta, Bench, and Informatics. One will also find many of the newest franchises such as Krispy Kimpao, Delifresh, and Noble House at the Incubation Center, ready to be introduced.
Lim enjoined the public to take advantage of the speeches and discussions on critical global issues that current franchisors and potential franchisors and franchisees need to know to become globally competitive.

Why most people are not prosperous
The cause of your life's "rut" is a thing called "Poverty Consciousness."
I have undergone life transformation trainings back in 1998 under Ms. Karen Rubio, a Lifeskills Coach. At that time, I have no job, just recently resigned. My first business venture was just break-even.
I’m particularly fond of my Coach because she identified my personal blocks to success. I also share her vision of helping transform the consciousness of our fellow Pinoys.
I subsequently founded a self-help organization of online entrepreneurs called The CEO-Entrepreneurs Organization (The CEO).
You can join us at http://freeonlineschool.manila.ph/ceo-entrepreneur
My Coach gave me a questionnaire, which I will share with you.
If you have checked three or more items, you surely have "Poverty Consciousness"! These are your defeating patterns, your blocks to getting what you want.
I was not an overnight business success after taking the test.
It still took me 4 years to finally discover the secrets of the Internet and gain profits from it. In those 4 long years, I am just conscious of the blocks that kept me from my dreams.
Perhaps, this test kept me going on despite the many odds.

After taking the test, don’t forget to join The CEO. http://freeonlineschool.manila.ph/ceo-entrepreneur
