How To Write A Compelling Opt-in Offer, And Get The Maximum Number of Subscribers To Your List

internet marketing blog

One key to your online success is to grow a solid opt-in list, and then build relationships with your subscribers by sending them valuable and useful information.

This way, they'll come to view you as a reliable resource, and look forward to hearing from you.
Then, when you personally recommend a product to them, they'll snap it up, because they trust your opinion.

But while most people understand the value of putting an opt-in offer on their homepages, many people are struggling to convert their visitors into subscribers because their actual opt-in offers are bland or unappealing.

Remember that a typical web surfer is BOMBARDED by requests for their email address every time they go online, so they're getting pretty particular about what they sign up for.

A simple "subscribe to my newsletter" link just isn't going to cut it!

To get the MAXIMUM number of subscribers to your list, you need to write an exciting, benefit-rich offer that COMPELS your visitors to sign up, by explaining what's in it for them when they give you their email addresses.

Here are THREE simple strategies you can use to write an eye-grabbing opt-in offer that people will WANT to subscribe to:

Strategy #1: Emphasize benefits, not features

When you write your opt-in offer, avoid simply listing features.

In other words, don't just describe the kind of information you're going to send your subscribers; explain what the ADVANTAGES of having it are.

For example, say your opt-in offer was an eBook about how to tune your own piano.

You could write:

"Download our free eBook, written by a board-certified piano tuner"

But that would just be describing the features of the offer. Here's how the offer would look if you stressed the benefits:

"Board-certified piano tuner reveals the step-by-step method you can follow to tune your own piano, and save $100s a year!"

See the difference?

Once I understand that this information is going to help me save a LOT of money, I immediately become interested.

Remember, your opt-in offer always needs to answer the visitors' question: "What's in it for ME if I give you my email address?"

Strategy #2: Include a "call to action"

Make sure that your opt-in offer tells people EXACTLY what you want them to do!

It may seem obvious that they need to fill in their names and email addresses, and click the "subscribe" button, but really, that's not the main reason you need a call to action.

Adding a call to action creates a sense of urgency, and persuades your visitors to act immediately.

If they need to fill in the boxes with their name and email addresses, say "Enter your name and email address in the spaces provided." If they need to go to your subscription page to sign up, say "click here now to subscribe."

Strategy #3: Add a link to your privacy policy

As the amount of spam we receive continues to grow, people are becoming more and more reluctant to give out their email addresses, out of fear that unscrupulous marketers are going to sell or trade them, and they'll start getting even MORE spam!

So eliminate your visitors' fears of giving you their email addresses by reassuring them that you definitely will NOT be using them unethically.

A well-written privacy policy, which spells out exactly how you're going to use their personal information -- along with a link to the policy -- included right IN the opt-in offer, should help.
If you're unsure of how to write a privacy policy, I recommend you visit this site, where you can have one generated for you.

By paying attention to these three simple guidelines, you'll be able to create an enticing opt-in offer that will grab your visitors' interest.

Then make sure you place the offer prominently within the "first fold" of your site (the first screen people can see without scrolling down), and sit back and watch your opt-in subscriber list grow!
